Siargao Adventure

Siargao Island - famous for all surfing enthusiast all over the globe. But this island is not just for the surfing population. This world-renowned island has something more to offer.

Siargao is facing the great Pacific ocean hence the big waves. The island is pretty big, but General Luna is the surfing capital of the island.

Siargao Adventure

Where to stay:

Being a famous surf spot, you can easily fly there directly without any reservations because hostels, hotels, etc are budding like roses in the island. Well, it's still best to have a reservation, but hey! Scouting for accommodations is part of the adventure.

As for us, we stayed at two different inns.

Jade Star Lodge - Located a few kilometres from Cloud 9. This resort is not fancy, but it's beach front! They have bunk beds which start @ Php 350 / person / night. You'll have access to the kitchen at minimal cost.

They also have rooms available. Just haggle with the caretaker for the price.

It's better to rent a scooter/motorcycle if you're staying here since you'll have to drive to cloud 9 or to other parts to get decent food. Please secure your drinking water as well because there are no stores nearby.

Since it's a lil bit far from cloud 9, expect a silent and peaceful ambiance. At night, go to the beach, grab some beer and enjoy the sound of the waves. I really enjoyed my stay here. If only I knew how to use a motorbike.

I also would like to cite how honest the people are in this resort. I left my iPhone in our room upon check out, but the lovely lady kept it and returned it to me after we got back from the island hopping. Thanks, Madame!

Traveller's Inn - we stayed here for our second night. It's still beachfront - yay! This time, we are just 5kms away from Cloud 9. Pretty far still, but it's nearer compared to Jade's. The resort apparently is empty. It's bigger compared to Jade's, but no one is in there. I think we were the only guest during that time.

You'll have to walk for about 10 metres from the main road to get to the resort. It' really scary at night because the road is not well lit.

Good thing, restaurants are just a walk away from Traveller's Inn. We ate at Mama's grill and they serve various BBQ goodness. They also have a mini grocery for your basic needs.

What to do?

You can actually plan out an itinerary of your own or you can simply contact Kuya Bebot(0906) 459 5679 or +63 930 974 9974. He is really handy when it comes to anything about Siargao.

Since we did not prepare any itinerary for this trip, we had to call Kuya Bebot (we got his number from Facebook) and asked for his services. He is a motorcycle driver (habal habal), but he also functions as a tour guide, tour arranger, accommodation finder, etc. And what sets him apart from the others, he does not charge a single cent to his guests. Well, you can always give a tip for his superb  service.

He gets his income from referral fees from the hotels, hostels, etc. He also gets a portion if you decide to go on an island hopping adventure. All I can say is that he is by far the best guide out there.

Please do call him anytime @ (0906) 459 5679 or +63 930 974 9974. Inform him that you got his number from me [Kent].

Magpupungko Rock Formation

This should be part of your itinerary whenever you're in Siargao. The magnificent tidal pools are perfect for swimming. This can be a perfect Instagram post.

Island Hopping (includes Bucas Grande)

Normally, they offer two types of island hopping tour. One is going to 3 nearby islands (Guyam, Naked, Daku). This is the most common tour that people avail. When you've got more time in Siargao, you can also try the second island hopping tour. In this tour, you'll visit the Bucas Grande group of islands. This tour is more exciting and adventure - filled. You'll go through spelunking, cliff jumping, swimming in stingless jellyfish, and island hopping.

Fortunately, we covered all attractions in just 1 day! thanks to our ever-reliable tour guide, Kuya Bebot.
