Martial Law: What to do if you are a PAL, CEB PAC, or AIR ASIA ticket holder

Rodrigo Duterte, the President of the Philippines has declared Martial Law in Mindanao. Following the announcement, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have released guidelines for affected ticket holders.

Philippine Airlines

In view of the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao effective May 23, 2017, PAL passengers holding tickets with confirmed bookings dated May 24 – July 30, 2017 to the Region (Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, Ozamiz, Surigao and Zamboanga)may avail of any of the following options:
  • Rebook their tickets without penalties within 90days from original flight date or within ticket validity period. Reboooking shall be allowed on restricted / non- restricted tickets. Paid seats (Choice Economy and Forward Economy Seats) and pre-paid baggage may be rebooked/ re-associated to the passenger's new flight date. Change fees/rebooking penalties shall be waived.
  • Reroute on restricted/non-restricted tickets without penalties; additional fares and taxes may be assessed, as necessary
  • Refund tickets without penalties

For flight rebooking / rerouting / refunding, affected passengers may call PAL Hotline (02) 855 – 8888, visit the nearest PAL ticketing officer or partner travel agent.

Cebu Pacific

CEB Advisory as of May 24, 2017; 06:30PM (Philippine Time GMT+8)


Operations of Cebu Pacific in Mindanao remain normal, with no restrictions or limitations imposed on air travel by the authorities.

However, in light of recent situation in Marawi City and the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo strongly advise all its passengers to allot sufficient travel time to get to the airports due to the heightened security measures being implemented. Heavy traffic is also anticipated around the areas as numerous check points are expected to be put up.

Guests flying to and from any Cebu Pacific or Cebgo destination in Mindanao from May 25 to 31, 2017 who are concerned about travelling at this time may opt to rebook their tickets for free within 30 days; or place the cost of the ticket in a travel fund for future use.
For flight rebookings or other concerns, guests are advised to contact the Cebu Pacific hotline at +632 7020-888. They may also message the official Cebu Pacific Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/cebupacificair) or Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) accounts.
CEB also reminds its passengers of the following:
  • Remember to bring a valid ID* to be presented during check-in and boarding.
  • Liquids, aerosols, and gels inside a hand-carry bag should be in a container (100 ml or less) and they should be placed in a clear, re-se¬alable plastic bag.
  • Be conscious in bringing objects with sharp edges (i.e. nail files, nippers, nail cutters, scissors, etc.) as these may not be allowed in your hand-carry baggage 
  • If you are bringing gadgets like your laptop, be prepared to take it out for inspection

Air Asia

[FLIGHT ADVISORY as of 25 May 2017, 10:55AM]: Due to the recent situation in Marawi City and the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, please be advised that AirAsia operations in Davao remain normal and with no travel restrictions being imposed by the government & air travel authorities.
However, AirAsia guests flying to and from Davao from 25 May until 25 July 2017 who are concerned about travelling will be able to choose from these options:

  • Move flight until 25 August 2017 
  • Credit Shell valid for 90 days

AirAsia encourages guests who decides to travel to allot sufficient travel time going to the airport & to conduct self-check-in via web, mobile app or kiosk services & bring the necessary valid IDs for check-in & boarding.
